Consignment sales....Goatfeathers!

So a few quilty friends used to have a booth at Goatfeathers in Boulder City, NV.  It closed in December and might be opening up again soon...so I'm going to try selling some crafty/quilty items!  And patterns, of course....I've got to find a way to hang my patterns for sale and I saw this wire stuff at Lowe's yesterday while looking for chicken wire...A few "S" hooks and I think it might be possible....

We are thinking of weaving some ribbon and spring flowers through the wire.  The wire stuff was really inexpensive, about $2.50, for 10 feet.  I can cut it to 3 feet lengths and that should hold quite a few patterns...an up close shot...

So this also means I have to make/finish a few quilts that have been in progress for years.  And longarm....did I ever show you my longarm room sign?  It was made by my friend Steph...cute, huh?

The longarm room is a mess, but I'm getting a baby quilt done....

And my friend Denise gave me this cartoon for my son, Ryan....who spends way more time in quilt shops than an average teenage boy should...

Well, no time to waste!  More pics later this week....Happy Quilting!

Valentine's Vacation...

I took the family on a little trip this weekend....Tumbling Rock Ranch again!  How lovely...the weather was great, the dog loved it, and we all got a little sewing done...

Here is Ryan and the dog chillin' on the couch...We watched The Guardian, Catch Me If You Can,  La Bamba and the original Footloose...and lots of Olympics via satellite...and played a little pool.  Turns out Ryan is quite the player...hmmmm??  Buddy is a city dog--he didn't much appreciate walking in dirt and rocks.  He is happy to be home where he can lay on the patio and get a suntan....

Rebecca's sewing station...she is working on a quilt that got started a few years ago and then got put away in the cabinet.  She did get quite a few blocks done...

My mess...I was making mug rugs and scrappy log cabin blocks...

Denise finished a Wild Thing quilt top for her Mom's birthday.  She pushed through like a sweatshop worker and got the whole top done this weekend!  Super cute, huh?

I'm just about done with sewing up a new pattern.  The blocks are B.I.G. so they go quickly...but then it goes to "on point" and sashing with cornerstones and them I'm dragging again!  LOL...but it pinned the rows together tonight while we watched the last episode of the Walking Dead in the mancave...there is carpet in there...so much better than sitting on the tile floor.  ;-)

Anyhow, we are keeping busy.  More pics later this week, hopefully!  Happy Quilting....

Working on a quilt....

I've been using my recently acquired navy, green and aqua fabrics to test out a new quilt pattern....I need 13 blocks and they will be set on point with little sashing cornerstones.  Here is a snippet of one block....

Writing a pattern involves a lot of sketching, calculating, diagramming and planning...I have a 3-ring binder that I keep all my notes in...very handy!

Here are little baggies full of individual block pieces.  After I cut all the pieces, I sorted them so I'd have variety in each block.  I'm not into leaving stuff to "chance"....I know how that works out!

I'm doing a little family retreat to Tumbling Rock Ranch again.  We love that place...Rebecca will also be sewing, as well as my teacher friend Denise, so it should be fun!  Ryan, Grandma and the dog will also be there so it should be a great time for all of us!  I'll take pics...I've been there a couple of times before on quilt retreats and I always leave refreshed and relaxed...

Anyhow, that is what I'm up to...and working, always working.  1212 days until my retirement!!  (3 more years after this ones ends)....Happy Quilting everyone!
